Senior Electrical Engineer-Energy Sector

As a result of the work that we have recently won, we are looking for a highly motivated and passionate Senior Electrical Engineer/Energy to join our team in our growing team, that has distribution engineering experience and is familiar with National Grid electric distribution standards, NEC standards, and has experience with power systems analysis. This candidate will be supporting our growing national energy market, specifically advancing our transportation electrification service. This candidate ideally has prior experience planning for or designing electrical systems in support of electric vehicles and buses.

Job Location: Providence/ Newport, Rhode Island (will report out of Boston, MA office)

Responsibilities:

  • Performs power systems analysis to determine existing and potential future load due to the addition of new electric buses. Factor in potential renewable energy resources, energy storage, and make recommendations for emergency backup generation
  • Provide technical advice and engineering support to improve electrical reliability and resiliency for the future
  • Address current, pending, and best practices for code modification related to supporting an electric bus fleet, including the Electrical Code, Utility Company standards
  • Field verify equipment location, size, type, age, dimensions, and short circuit duty rating for existing electrical equipment including (cable, conductor, switches, protective devices, structures, transformers, capacitors).
  • Check maps and verify location of services
  • Make recommendations for bus charging locations
  • Provide detailed technical scope and cost estimate documentation for use by both internal and external design resources

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Licensed Electrical P.E. in the state of Rhode Island
  • Min. 5 years of hands-on experience in design/ construction of EV charging stations is preferred
  • Ability to work as a team member and communicate with multiple schedulers.
  • A valid driver's license and compliance with our vehicle policy is required. Candidate must be willing to travel locally to multiple projects when necessary
